On day 10 of the Inter-University Esports Championship ’22 powered by SLT-Mobitel, University of Jaffna’s Sudheera ‘ZARA COD’ Nimala Sri won the Call of Duty Mobile (solo) championship, knocking former champions University of Moratuwa and IIT to the bottom of the points chart.

This is the first time the University of Jaffna has been on the points standings since earning a silver medal in 2017.

This is the second unexpected victory in this year’s tournament for an institution that has never won the overall title. The first was the PUBG Mobile title, which ESOFT won and is now leading the overall standings, and this is the second. Given that PUBG Mobile and COD Mobile are two of the most popular titles in this year’s competition, their victories are well deserved.

ESOFT now holds the lead with two golds and one silver. NSBM finished second in the FreeFire Solo competition, winning a gold medal.

With 5 of the 16 titles completed, we may anticipate a slew of surprise dark horses to compete for the overall championship gold.
